I Go Dye Is Invested $185,000 by Point Gate For World Tour

One of Nigeria’s funniest men known by his fans as I Go Dye is currently undergoing his world tour after being invested in by Point Gate.

Francis Agoda is his real name and the genius behind some serious rib-cracking jokes. He began his comedy career at the early age of 13 by presenting mock news on Delta Television Warri. In 2000, a successful performance at Opa Williams’ Nite of A Thousand laughs put Agoda in the limelight and in the league of respected performers. He has only seen great things since.

Agoda has won numerous amounts of awards, performed in all successful shows in Nigeria and abroad and opened his own comedy show called ‘I Go Dye Standing’. He has also opened and closed shows for the likes of Janet Jackson, Game, Akon, Usher, DMX and many more of the worlds’ biggest stars.

There is no wonder that the Swiss/American entertainment outfit, Point Gate, has invested $185,000 in the comedian to spread his jokes and talent around the globe. The tour is called ‘Breaking the Diamond’ and has already and will hit major countries in Europe and cities in the US.

The Event Manager of Point Gate Miller Allen, who is of African decent, said, “The concept of the show is to fight against violence, racism, human trafficking, drug trafficking/addiction, as well as promoting the rich cultural heritage of Africa.” He went on to say that they chose I Go Dye because most African Americans, Europeans and mixed breeds requested for him due to his massive fan base and pedigree as one of Africa’s best comedians.

The European leg of the tour will begin in Antwerp and then continue on to Belgium, Isen, Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin and Cologne in Germany. Malaga, Barcelona and Madrid in Spain will feature the tour followed by Zurich and Bern in Switzerland, Warsaw and Krakow in Poland, Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece, Adaublin and Cork in Ireland and finally London.

In the USA you can catch the comedian in New York, California, Dallas, Virginia, Las Vegas, Florida, Houston, Chicago and Washington before I Go Dye heads back to his native country for more shows in Abuja, Lagos and Benin.

Timaya (born November 29, 1976) is a Nigerian singer known for his T-Pain-esque style of music, without the autotune.

Timaya was born in Bayelsa State in the Southern part of Nigeria. He started from Port Harcourt as a teenager in Nkpolu Oroworukwo Secondary School where he won so many awards in inter-school competitions and moved to Lagos to stay with his elder sister at his parents request so as to complete his secondary school education. He schooled at Ikeja High School in Mafoluku, Lagos.

He started out with a couple of early collaborations with some underground artists and was a back-up singer for Eedris Abdulkareem. He featured in an unreleased video by UDX, a rap group based in Lagos. Namse Udosen was one of his early mentors in the music game back in Lagos in the early 2000's. Namse Udosen (AKA Menthol X) laced the rap verse on Pomporo, a hit track on his debut album "True Story".

Timaya is also called the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa or Mr. Timaya. Timaya is currently the rave of the Nigerian music scene, with a lot of other musicians interested in doing collaborations with him. Timaya is for collabo because he says that collabo is like promo. That is, collaboration promotes a musician.

The Green October Project Volume I: What happens when a group of Hip-Hop and R&B artists of Nigerian descent get together to showcase their talent? Well, the result is The Green October Project Volume I, a compilation album jam-packed with solid Hip-Hop beats, catchy R&B and Reggae dance hooks topped with traditional Afro rhythms giving each song a unique edge.

"Along with having a very strong production, this album has good beats and party sounds that immediately caught my attention" said Zeke Zanders former record promoter for Atlantic Records and RCA Records. "Sometimes in music, there are these 'magical beats' that make people move and just feel good. This album does that. Even though I don't understand some of the non-English lyrics, it still takes me there."

The Green October Project Volume I is the brainchild of Harrison "Harry Baba " Nwozo Jr., CEO of the Maryland-based promotions company, Tribe X Entertainment, LLC. The album showcases several Nigerian artists living in Maryland and Washington DC. Hip-Hop artists featured are female rapper, Madarocka and male rappers SKI, Stevano U.G.O, Lil' Ayo, Shoboy and Amplifyd Crew.
Reggae artists featured are Pa J and Damask. R&B artists featured are male singer, Banky Wellington; songstresses, Tolumide, China Okasi and Abiodun Koya; and producer, Olutona "Big Lu" Ogunfiditimi of IGIT Records.

With mostly English lyrics, the album offers invitations for party goers to "move and groove," professions of romantic love, gospel praise and expressions of life as a Nigerian. Spreading across the African continent, Europe and American cities, African Hip-Hop proves the global influence of Hip-Hop music. From Japanese rap to Cuban rap, Hip-Hop is finding its way into the hearts and musical styles of young people around the world.

"I would say Hip-Hop's influence has become very powerful not just because of the music but also the social attitude and lifestyle it represents," stated Zanders. "Hip-Hop is the tool for young people to vocalize that they are the 'now' generation who cannot be ignored and will prove just what they can do."
Proving what they can do is exactly what Tribe X Entertainment and the artists on The Green October Project have in mind. Their goal is to contribute to African Hip-Hop and bring the genre into the air waves, home stereos, I Pods and consciousness of American audiences.
"We want the world to know that we (Nigerians/Africans) have Hip-Hop too," stated Harrison Nwozo, the album's executive producer. "We have good music that is a mix of everything from Hip-Hop, Afro funk, Reggae, R&B, Gospel, traditional Afro beat and Highlife."

Running a larger- than -life build up is never a pre-requisite or guarantee for the success of an event, but on Friday 27, 2006 at the Vault in Victoria Island Raw & Uncut lived up to its scary billing and some, when it brought down the roof as one of the most publicized and most successful event in a long while.
Raw & Uncut is the culmination of the amazing love shown the artiste by fans, the media and industry people alike. It provided a most suitable platform to say a big thank you to all those who in one way or another has supported the Nigga Raw project thus far. The celebrant gave about the best and most fiery performance on his own show.

The show drew pretty much the whole industry in one venue, in one night, with only the finest acts in the land gracing the stage. Acts like GT. The Guitarman, Felix Duke, Obiwon, Original Stereoman, Sound Sultan, C-Naya and a host of other upcoming acts to mention a few added their bit in terms color to the event. The highpoints of the event was comedian Koffi taking a swipe at the establishments as well as personalities in an avalanche of venom and the strip teaser working the crowd to point break with her sensuous moves, which more than justify the uncut part of the event.

Things took a shocking turn when Nigga Raw took the stage alongside the reunited Plantashun Boiz who chose the show as the first place to celebrate their highly publicized reunion. The show was sheer electric as the crowd stood and imbibed unhindered fun for the best part of five hours or more.

The show was put together by Now Muzik in conjunction with Soundcity and Tjoe Entertainment, produced by Now Muzik Events & Promotions.
